We can unlock the effectiveness of your compliance controls by embedding them within Sales, Procurement and other functional processes.
01
In the early days of compliance programs, it was considered sufficient for companies to develop and maintain substantive compliance policies addressing risks such as anti-corruption, antitrust and sanctions. Such policies were often developed in isolation of each other.
This evolved further with “Compliance 2.0”, the intent being to embed ethics & compliance controls in other functional processes (e.g. Finance, Sales, Procurement). To this day, the alignment of compliance controls and the incorporation of those in business processes remains a challenge for many companies.
This challenge has been compounded further in recent years by the introduction of new compliance risks (e.g. artificial intelligence, data security, human rights) and quasi-legal sustainability indices and standards issued by NGOs. This has reinforced the need for an integrated approach to compliance/sustainability/functional governance.
Integrity Bridge can support with governance gap analysis and alignment through policy and controls mapping to ensure that key sustainability/compliance risks and standards are being appropriately addressed.
02
The proliferation of new compliance risks cannot be solely addressed by adding more pages to a Code of Conduct. And simply applying a reductionist, purely values-based approach to governance is insufficient.
Employees are not necessarily exposed to all compliance risks and expecting them to read ever increasing Codes and more compliance policies is unrealistic.
To enhance engagement, compliance governance needs to be accessible, consistent, informative, actionable and trackable. Integrity Bridge can support these efforts, including:
Drafting employee and business partner codes that are aligned to day-to-day activity rather than areas of law
Development of interactive codes and policies
Incorporation of ethics & compliance requirements in function policies (e.g. finance, human resources, logistics, procurement, public affairs & sales)
03
Compliance teams need to ensure that key business processes – such as hire to retire, inquire to cash, source to pay, record to report, travel & expenses – are effectively managing compliance risk. Employees supporting those processes are critical gatekeepers who need training on what compliance red flags to look out for.
Integrity Bridge can support these efforts, including:
Business process mapping, and review of effectiveness of compliance-related controls
Identification of opportunities to simplify/systematize manual controls
Development and delivery of tailored training for business process gatekeepers
